William Cook Rail has achieved the International Railway Industry Standard (IRIS), the leading quality benchmark for the global rail sector.

It covers William Cook Rail’s systems for casting, machining, assembly and overhaul of safety-critical components for train builders and operators across the world.
Industry leaders such as Alstom, Bombardier and Siemens rely on the demanding IRIS certification to uphold safety, quality and reliability in their supply chains. William Cook Rail went through a rigorous auditing and assessment process to gain the certification, which is held by only 22 other UK companies.
Mr William Cook, Director, said: “IRIS certification confirms what our customers already know; that they can rely on William Cook Rail to supply safety-critical cast steel components and couplers for their trains.
“With our brand new bogie overhaul workshop, they can also rely on us to keep their trains running.”
In 2019 William Cook Rail also achieved certification from the Railway Industry Supplier Approval Scheme (RISAS), which covers the company’s maintenance and overhaul work for train couplers, bogies and associated ancillary equipment.
William Cook Rail was also selected as SME Supplier of the Year at Transport for London’s 2019 supplier awards.
