Mr William Cook, group commercial director, said: “Wherever I go - from Singapore to the United States - the customers I meet recognise Sheffield as a byword for quality.
“We have been casting steel in Sheffield since the nineteenth century and we remain deeply rooted here not only as a local employer, but also through our involvement with the universities, Company of Cutlers and local charities.”
William Cook has been family owned and managed since its foundation in 1840 and started casting steel in Sheffield in 1883. It has innovated constantly since then, and today it is a pioneer in 3D printing and a member of the University of Sheffield’s Advanced Manufacturing Research Centre. The company has three UK manufacturing plants with 500 employees and annual sales of £50 million.
The private sector-led Made in Sheffield initiative is designed to promote the city region’s world-class companies in sectors as diverse as advanced manufacturing, materials technology, food, healthcare technology and the creative and digital industries.
